Crickets can bite, but they don't usually puncture your skin with their mouthparts. They also carry a lot of diseases that can cause painful sores, but they're not fatal to humans. Crickets bite to defend themselves, but their jaws aren't powerful enough to cut through human skin, so they can spread their diseases through bites, physical contact, or feces. Their bites are reported to be more painful than you'd expect.
