The average lifespan of an ant is about one year, but some species can live for more than two years. A queen ant can live longer (up to 10 years) because she lays eggs and nurses her young until they are ready to be independent. Remember that an ant’s life span will depend on its environment; it may live longer in a warmer climate or where there are fewer predators.
