A carpenter bee, as its name suggests, is a bee that builds its nest in wood. They like to build nests by hollowing out cavities into the tree trunks or branches of trees. Carpenter bees are solitary insects and usually live by themselves or with 1-2 other carpenter bees. They typically do not sting humans unless they feel threatened or disturbed.
