You can keep crickets out of the garden by doing the following:
1. Keep your lawn mowed short so that it is not a good hiding place.
2. Use mulch around plants as this will help deter them from coming near the plant.
3. Place pots with drainage holes on top of soil or gravel where you want to grow vegetables so that you can prevent water accumulation.
